In some time with the Hasmonean revolt, Judah Maccabee attacked the city and burned the harbor in retaliation in opposition to its foreign inhabitants for drowning about two hundred Jaffa Jews (II Macc. 12:three–7). Afterward, his brother Jonathan conquered the city, and pursuing his death, Simon ultimately annexed it into the Jewish state, immed
